The lovely sponsors of The Butterfly Party’s Christmas Party Beauty Box didn’t leave us out in the hair department. We need to have great tresses to match our pretty nails and skin right? This time our shampoo review comes courtesy of Matrix, focusing on their new Biolage collection.
The shampoo bottle was impossible to miss, due to it’s sheer size and its really pretty showing of orchids. It’s also very grip-friendly with ridges at the sides to prevent slippery fingers getting the best of you.
To be honest, I was a little bummed when I read the front of the bottle. For one very simple reason. I don’t have coloured hair! And the product is called the Matrix Biolage ColorLast Shampoo for non other than colour-treated hair! NOO!! OMG, I’ve never ever had my hair coloured. The irony. How I wished we could have picked our shampoos based on our personal hair needs. Then I’d be better able to provide a good review of the product.
Oh well, no choice then. What I will do is to highlight some key points I liked about the shampoo despite the colour-treatedness of it (of course). What I won’t do is lie and tell you something like…”Oh, it made my hair darker” or “Oh, I had less white hairs after using this product”. Nope, that’s not me. So read on to see how this shampoo fared despite the odds.
Upon opening the bottle cap, you’re hit with the loveliest scent wafting from within its confines. I like to believe that orchids really smell as sweet. Maybe they do, not that I’ve come across one that smells like this product though.
The shampoo itself is a glittery silver substance that foams nicely upon application. It didn’t give my hair a squeaky clean feeling after washing, despite the fact that I wash my hair twice every time. This shampoo doesn’t come with conditioner built-in but I was surprised to learn that my hair felt soft enough that I felt like I didn’t need to condition it! Great for lazy bums like myself.
But there is something else I liked the most about this shampoo. It was definitely quite an instant gratification too. Want to know what that was? I was pleasantly surprised that I discovered a reduction in hair loss! At least half the amount I usually lose both during and after washing! Woot Woot!!! This is HUGE for me as my already very fine hair doesn’t need any help in the hair loss department.
In conclusion, I really do like this product! Didn’t think it would work for me but alas, I was proven wrong. I do think it would benefit those with coloured-hair more than it did me, but don’t hold me to it. Try it for yourself and see the difference! Will I be buying this product again? Nope. Will I be trying another product in this range? A big and easy YES!
Matrix Biolage Colorlast Shampoo (400ml) – RM55
Tremendous thanks to Matrix for sponsoring such a lovely product for The Butterfly Project’s Beauty Box. It seems I’ve found a keeper!
Disclosure: This product was part of the Beauty Box I received for attending The Butterfly Christmas Party. I was not compensated financially or otherwise. Everything mentioned are my own thoughts based on my experience.
