Foodie Hunt: Gelatomio, Pavilion
Last weekend I was dropped off at Pavilion by the lovely Cindy after our Spa Date (more on that in another post). Anyway as I was walking about I spotted the ever elusive (to me) Gelatomio. I’d never tried it before but have ALWAYS wanted to. I don’t get to go to Pavilion very often. The traffic is horrendous! But since I was already in the building, what better time to try it right!
I hunted down my Diner-in-Crime and we went ogling at the yummy displays of gelato. You know how they tempt you with those huge vats of goodness? All piled up with fruits on top (to represent the flavours if the namecards hadn’t given it away). Diner-in-Crime said “That looks good!” Oh yes they did alright!
So we had a simple dinner and then, off to Gelatomio yet again! Yay! Finally! At long last you are MINE! How can I say no to dessert right? And not only that, gelato!
sorry about the pic, too many people blocking
I was going “ooh” and “aah” and of course they let you sample, so I had two, no three, okay fine, it was more like four. The gelato are divided into two areas. The left side (far left in the pic) houses the creamier stuff like Double Chocolate, Vanilla, PISTACHIO, and many more really. While the other side (far right in the pic) contains the fruity gelato, yummy flavours like Mixed Berry, Banana Yoghurt, Mango, Strawberry, Passionfruit etc…you get the idea.

I was really surprised when I opened up their menu. They serve breakfast and sandwiches too! I thought it was just desserts and coffee. I guess businesses these days need to diversify a bit and tempt people with more goodies. I hope I’ll get to try some other things on their menu some time soon.
I’m most interested to try their Affogato (affogato-lover ALERT) because:
Coffee+Vanilla Gelato=FOODIE HEAVEN!
But back to the gelato. Guess what we picked!
mine’s on the left, Diner-in-Crime’s on the right
I didn’t want anything too heavy, as we’d only just had dinner. I picked the Passionfruit and Mixed Berry while my Diner-in-Crime picked Passionfruit (again!) and Pistachio. Now I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Passionfruit AND the Pistachio. The 2 Ps are scrumptious! The Passionfruit is just slightly tart without being overpoweringly sour, it isn’t too sweet at the same time so it’s just perfectly balanced. While the Pistachio is so creamy and full of flavour and not too sweet as well. The Mixed Berry was good too don’t get me wrong. Lots of little seeds courtesy of the different types of berries in the blend. Sorry, I can’t remember the berries used in this, I was too busy sampling and choosing.
Also, we made use of a coupon I found in the Weekly Runner paper with the coupon being sponsored by Worthy Book. It was a “Buy 1 Regular Cup (3 flavours), FREE 1 extra scoop” and the Gelatomio staff were so nice they let us split it into 2 small cups so we wouldn’t have to fight to get at the gelato. I WILL FIGHT for DESSERTS you know!! I mean it!
Really satisfied after having my first taste of Gelatomio. It will definitely not be my last! And what a way to end a day of spa-ing, dinner, followed by a great dessert! Not to mention that it is supposed to be “up to 99% fat free“…like I care . 😉
Gelatomio is available in 5 locations: Pavilion KL, Berjaya Times Square KL, IOI Mall Puchong, First Avenue Mall Penang, Gurney Plaza Penang
