Interview with Christie
1. First thing in the morning, is it coffee or tea that gives you a boost? Or is it the dog calling for breakfast?
I actually don’t usually require either, but I generally prefer peppermint tea. If I’m really exhausted I might give in and have some coffee. Somehow along the way I turned into a morning person and am usually cheerful and awake after a little bit.
2. According to your author bio, you love to bake when you’re not writing. So if your characters (from Rain) came to your door one day, what would you bake for them?
I would probably bake cookies. I have this great recipe for chocolate chip cookies and I usually tweak it and add heath, and peanut butter chips as well. They are so good!
3. Do you have a favourite social media platform? I see you have so many accounts!
Yes, I do have a lot of them. Most of them get minimal attention. I’m mostly on Facebook and twitter. More recently I have been pretty active with Instagram as well.
4. What inspired you to write this novel?
I had a writing assignment for a fiction writing class in college. Pretty much the only requirement was that it had to be realistic fiction. When I thought about the kind of story I would do I just had an image of rain in my head, and started at the opening scene and went with it. I never expected to love the story so much.
5. Why should people read Rain? And what do you hope readers will take away after reading Rain?
I think teenagers will enjoy Rain and learn from the story. I think the main character is relatable, even if the reader hasn’t experienced what Taylor is going through in the story. The events that take place in the story could happen to anyone, and one thing to take away is to not take things for granted because you never know what can happen.
5.5 Is there another novel in the works?
There will be two more novels in the series, Before the Rain and Through the Rain. I can’t wait to write them!
The List – Please recommend 5 books you think everyone should read.
Only 5?
Hopeless by Colleen Hoover | Easy by Tammara Webber | Moon Called (Mercy Thompson Series) by Patricia Briggs | The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling | The Next Door Boys by Jolene Perry | Half-Blood series by Jennifer Armentrout
Well, I did a bonus one, and I could totally go on. Some are realistic fiction and some are fantasy.
Thank you Christie for taking the time to answer these questions, you had some really cute ones there! I can’t wait for the two new books. Congratulations on Rain!
